Max Ungar is a local to the area – homegrown in Bethesda, Maryland, an avid member of the local CrossFit community, and now practicing coach. He went to high school in Rockville where he played varsity baseball and basketball. In 2012, Max was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 36th round of the MLB first year player’s draft. He now attends Denison University, where he is a Biology major and Philosophy minor. Max has interned for Denison’s Strength & Conditioning department where he helped coach 23 Varsity teams through strength programs 4 times per week.
Max brought CrossFit to his school at Denison called the Big Red Fitness Club where he coaches 3 CrossFit classes/week open to Denison’s students. Within the last year, Max has helped over 150 students realize their fitness goals, mentored 6 student-coaches, become an equipment sponsor, and host an annual fitness competition for Denison students.
Some of Max’s personal accomplishments include:
• Clean – 325 lb
• Deadlift – 555 lb
• Squatted – 440 lb
• Snatched – 225 lb
Hopefully his strength and technique will continue to improve over the summer of 2014. Max can’t wait to use his experience as a coach to help Rockville CrossFit members make improvements this summer!
